چکیده
In this paper, we present a new approach to subpixel infrared (IR) emitter detection in VIIRS mid-wave (MWIR) bands M12–M13 at night, based on the presence of tightly clustered background diagonal full granule scattergrams M12 versus M13 radiances. This is found universally night-time data collected worldwide. The feature absent during day due solar reflectance. existence attributed close spacing bandpass centers VIIRS’ two MWIR bands. Apparently, and emissivities are highly correlated objects, such clouds, ocean land surfaces. Nightfire (VNF) algorithm detects pixels containing IR emitters their departure from diagonal. paper outlines method compares VNF results with those MODIS hotspot detection.

متن کاملCharacterization of NPP Visible/Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) reflective solar bands dual gain anomaly
The Visible/Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) contains six dual gain bands in the reflective solar spectrum. The dual gain bands are designed to switch gain mode at pre-defined thresholds to achieve high resolution at low radiances while maintaining the required dynamic range for science. During pre-launch testing, an anomaly in the electronic response before transitioning from high to l...

The Nightfire algorithm detects and characterizes sub-pixel hot sources using multispectral data collected globally, each night, by the Suomi National Polar Partnership (NPP) Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS). The spectral bands utilized span visible, near-infrared (NIR), short-wave infrared (SWIR), and mid-wave infrared (MWIR). The primary detection band is in the SWIR, centere...
متن کاملNight Time Detection of Vehicles
This paper presents results of a study carried out to count and classify vehicles in video sequences of traffic scenes captured from a fixed digital camera under night conditions. The vehicle identification has been carried out using the headlights, which may be the only key feature available to identify vehicles under low light conditions through visible light. Due to lack of features, the veh...
